FAQ

What are microneedles?

Microneedles are ultra-fine, tiny needles (generally smaller than 1 mm) designed to penetrate the top layers of the skin without causing pain. They are used in various medical and cosmetic treatments to effectively deliver various substances while minimising discomfort and promoting faster healing.

Are you sure it won't hurt?

Microneedles don't hurt because they are extremely small and thin, penetrating only the uppermost layers of the skin without reaching the deeper nerves responsible for pain sensation. This minimally invasive approach still effectively delivers the pigment without the ouch factor. Our previous testers described it as a firm pressure with the roughness of Velcro!

Is the tattoo permanent?

Yes, these are permanent tattoos. While we are exploring the possibility of semi-permanent tattoos in the future, this trial applies to permanent tattoos only.

Are the patches sterilised?

Yes! All of the materials used in our microneedle patch undergo medical-standard sterilisation before being used on your skin.

Has this been tested before?

Yes, we have already applied over 20 microneedle tattoos to people and are now ready to expand to a wider audience!

How long does it take?

We anticipate the overall time of the trial to be 1 hour.

  • 5 min — Preparation
  • 1 min — Patch application
  • 30 min — Waiting for the tattoo to develop
  • 15 min — Brief interview
  • 1 min — Patch removal

How long is the recovery time?

The site of the tattoo will likely be a little red or itchy for a few hours. We will provide a standard dressing to cover this, which can be removed after 24 hours. We expect the skin to recover fullyt at all after 1 day.

What happens if the tattoo isn't fully defined?

An under-defined tattoo is one where sections of the tattoo are not as dark as intended or partially missing. We have tested our microneedle tattoos and believe this to be an unlikely outcome. However, if it does happen, we will arrange for a tattoo artist to complete the design.
